Levon Aronian is 5th in FIDE chess rating
Armenia’s leading chess player Levon Aronian comes 5th with 2792 points on the new FIDE rating table published on July 1. World champion Magnus Carlsen tops the list with 2855 points. Armenian chess players Gabriel Sargissian (56th place with 2679 points), Vladimir Akopian (62nd, 2675) and Sergei Movsisyan (76th, 2666) are also included in the list of the 100 top chess players. Armenia’s Elina Danielyan (39th, 2444), Lilit Mkrtchyan (42th, 2442) are included in the list of the world strongest 100 women chess players.
