Armenian writer Hrachya Matevosyan dies at 79

Prominent Armenian writer and publicist Hrachya Matevosyan passed away on June 29 at the age of 79. Hrachya Matevosyan was born in the village of Ahnidzor in Lori province on May 12, 1937. Matevosyan started his career working as a lynotypist in different publishing houses of Yerevan. In 1966, he graduated from the Faculty of Journalist of Yerevan State University. In different years, Matevosyan worked for Avanguard newspaper, Voice of Motherland weekly, and Vozni (“Hedgehog”) satirical magazine. He was awarded a Yeghishe Award of the NKR government (1992, 2003). Hrachya Matevosyan was the brother of Hrant Matevosyan, an outstanding Armenian fiction author and screen writer.
