Following the meeting of the Presidents of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia that took place in Saint Petersburg on June 20, political analyst Alexander Manasyan got the impression that Azerbaijan was forced to retreat by Russia. “Azerbaijan has always had a negative attitude towards the installation of special devices along the Line of Contact but now it has suddenly agreed to it though the number of observers may not be so great as to record all violations along the Line of Contact,” Mr Manasyan said on June 22. Asked whether the agreement reached in St. Petersburg could prevent a possible war, the political analyst said, “Though the pressure on Azerbaijan is still fresh, no one can guarantee that it may curb Azerbaijan in its intentions.” “Russia does not want Azerbaijan to become closer with Turkey, therefore it has started a series of flirtation with Baku,” Mr Manasyan said adding that 'Russia does not want to lose Armenia.'
