One can see more salespeople than buyers in the popular GUM market in Yerevan. “The situation is very bad, there is no trade,” said one of the sellers. Even people who have been trading in the market for over 20 years are complaining. They say they cannot turn a profit. “There are many supermarkets in the city and shops at every turn. People used to visit the market before they were opened, but now they visit shops and supermarkets,” the sellers said. The chairman of the Union of domestic producers knows what the country should do to make local products more competitive in our markets.
