Nzhdeh’s statue unveiled by his great grandchild (video)
The statue of state and military figure Garegin Nzhdeh has been unveiled in the territory near Republic Square. Several hours ago the nearby streets were closed. Before the arrival of Serzh Sargsyan, the RA NA lawmakers, governors, other political-public figures had arrived here. Serzh Sargsyan came accompanied by Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan, the NA Speaker Galust Sahakyan, Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan and ministers. The orchestra of honor welcomed them, songs dedicated to Garegin Nzhdeh, speeches and historical reviews were made. By the way, during the performance of patriotic songs the NA Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov was the most delighted; he actively sang, applauded. Ararat Patriarchal Diocese Archbishop Navasard Kchoyan held a blessing ceremony. The statue of Garegin Nzhdeh was solemnly unveiled by Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan and Nzhdeh’s great grandchild Armen Babayan accompanied by the RA anthem. Serzh Sargsyan, Hovik Abrahamyan and Galust Sahakyan laid flowers at the statue. They didn’t make speeches and left after the ceremony. Concert was held immediately after the opening ceremony.
