PROTEST ACTION HELD NEAR ARAGAST CAFE

Some political forces prepared a surprise for jazz fans. The final part of jazz-festival, traditionally performed in Aragast Café, has been accompanied with protest action. Protesters tried to remind jazz fans about the tragedy occurred in this café last year September, when Poghos Poghosyan was slain by the Armenian president’s bodyguard. About 150 people participated in the action. Before the festival was over they stood outside the café compound with pictures of Poghos Poghosyan in their hands. Protesters also carried the slogans, calling for struggle against terrorism and demanding to restore justice in Armenia. Despite action participants stood silent the number of police cordon exceeded the number of protesters. People commemorated the victim of the murder by laying candles and flowers on the water of basin. Jazz admirers, in turn, watched this event behind the closed windows.
