Monday storms in Armenia uproot trees, damage electrical wires and gas pipes
Strong winds were reported in Yerevan, Armavir, Ashtarak and other cities, at about 3:20-4:00 p.m. on Monday. Wind speeds varied between 13-28 meters per second. The Ministry of Emergency Situations says it received over 40 alarm calls. Fire erupted in the roofs of three houses and in a garage caused by short circuit. Electrical wires and gas pipes have been damaged. Roofs of many houses were torn off and trees were uprooted, causing traffic jams. No casualties were reported. 7 people have been hospitalized with minor injuries.
