Azerbaijanis broke into ring and tried to get revenge on athlete from Artsakh: ermenihaber (video)
A high-profile incident took place during European Kung Fu Championship underway in Ukrainian city of Lvov from May 12 to 15. The teams of Armenian and Azerbaijani Kung Fu federations are taking part in the abovementioned championship. Ermenihaber.am was informed that Armenian athlete Ashot Harutyunyan fought Azerbaijani athlete and defeated him. In another fight the rivals were again athletes from Armenia and Azerbaijan. At the end of this fight, when the victory of athlete Davit Petrosyan from Artsakh was obvious, the second of the Azerbaijani team tried to hit our athlete. Azerbaijani athlete also joined the provocation and hit Davit Petrosyan in the ring. Then the coaches and athletes of the Azerbaijani team attacked members of our team with truncheons. There was an impression that the provocation had been planned beforehand and that’s why the Azerbaijanis had brought truncheons with them. Azerbaijanis in hysteria even hit Mykola Matulevskiy, President of the European Kung Fu Federation, who was trying to block the athlete from Artsakh with his body. Police officers intervened in the jostle and chided the Azerbaijanis. For such an inadequate behavior the Azerbaijani team was reprimanded and disqualified. While the Armenian athletes gain dignified victories against the rival, the Azerbaijani athletes and coaches before very eyes of Europe and in Europe discredit reputation of the sport world and the championship with their vulgar behavior. By the way, the athlete from Artsakh, who was attacked in the ring, is the brother of conscript Marat Petrosyan, who destroyed 5 tanks and 1 Infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) of the Azerbaijani army during Four-day April war.
