The dismissed generals will not be held liable, Armenia’s Defence Minister Seyran Ohanyan told media on May 4 after a closed-door meeting with lawmakers. “They will not be prosecuted because their activity is not subject to criminal liability. Changes in the military personnel take place according to a schedule and are aimed at improving the management system,” the minister said. He added that the Defence Army and the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia carry out their tasks in full. Speaking about the meeting with the legislators, Mr Ohanyan said they regularly hold such meetings. “During the meeting, we heard recommendations and proposals as well as assessment of the situation [in Karabakh]. We will continue our cooperation with the National Assembly,” he stressed. In reply to a journalist’s observation that discuss in its Thursday session the Armenian Government will discuss a draft law on recognizing the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) by Armenia, the Armenian Defense Minister first said he was unaware of the initiative and then added ‘I always recognise my homeland.’
