Claudio Ranieri's elated mother has revealed how she broke down in tears on hearing Leicester City had been crowned Premier League champions. Renata Ranieri, the Leicester manager's 96-year-old mother, enjoyed a two-hour lunch with her son on Monday as he tried to relax ahead of Tottenham's decisive game against Chelsea. When the 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge handed Leicester their title, Renata said: 'I started crying after the game. Only later did he manage to call me and the rest of the family. I have to say we never expected that it could happen but Claudio told me he had found a great group of players who have trained like true professionals and finally everything has fallen into place and my son has found himself. He is now the King of England and we are hearing compliments about him from all over the world and I thank them all!' Leicester City are the 16th side that Ranieri has managed but his mother believed he did not receive the credit he deserved for managing home club Roma between 2009-2011. 'He has won a trophy before but there has been a lack of respect,' said Renata. 'I was sorry how it ended with Roma as the whole family are Giallorossi fans. But now he is a champion of England and we couldn't be prouder.'
