Criminal case initiated for hindering professional activities of journalist during elections
Hermine Manukyan, the journalist of “Haykakan zham” news website gave a report that in April 2016 from 09:00 till 10:00 with Anna Gevorgyan, the editor of the same website, during the broadcast of the community head elections held in village Pshatavan of Armavir region, some men hindered the execution of their professional duties, one of them took away the camera, and the other broke the audio recorder and the memory card, the Special Investigative Service of Armenia reports. In the Special Investigation Service a criminal case was initiated on the incident of the duties of the representative of means of mass media being hindered during the community head elections under points 1 and 5 of Article 149 of the Criminal Code of RA. A preliminary investigation is being carried out. Note: The suspect or the accused of the alleged offence is deemed innocent unless his or her innocence is proved by virtue of the effective court verdict in the manner prescribed by the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia.
