Anahit Bakhshyan, a member of the Barev Yerevan faction in Yerevan's Municipal Council, has addressed a letter to the Minister of Health, expressing her concerns about the health of two soldiers wounded in the frontline skirmishes in April. “On May 2, you announced that at this stage we do not have wounded soldiers who need to be sent abroad for treatment, while on April 21 you said if necessary, the wounded soldiers would be sent abroad [for treatment]. When making these announcements did you know that two of the wounded soldiers, Ruben Arakelyan and Arman Lazgiyan, need serious treatment? These 19-year-old boys received gunshot wounds to their spine and are being treated at the Erebuni medical centre. However, Mr Asatryan, Director of the Erebuni medical centre, said ‘the rehabilitation institute is not well developed in Armenia yet.’ This means they must be sent abroad. Their parents are now consulting with physicians from different countries, who believe that their condition can change somehow if they are promptly taken to their hospitals. Your words did not console their parents who are going to turn to you in the near future with the request to send their sons abroad,” Anahit Bakhshyan said in her address.
