According to media reports, Ani Hovhannisyan, director and editor of Analitik.am, tried to extort money from Armenian lawmaker Tigran Urikhanyan. Several people have been arrested in this connection. Talking to A1+, Tigran Urikhanyan, Chairman of the Alliance Party, neither denied nor confirmed the information. “I have nothing to say,” he said. Ani Hovhannisyan, director and editor of Analitik.am news website, was arrested on Tuesday, May 3. On the eve, the police received a report by a lawmaker according to which the director of the website periodically published on the website false information, defamation and other incriminating materials about his person, family members and his activities as a lawmaker. The director of the website reportedly demanded that the lawmaker pay her AMD 300,000 every month for stopping the publication of articles.
