Captain Azat Stepanyan to undergo fourth operation

Azat Stepanyan, one of the Armenian servicemen wounded on the Karabakh border during the April 2-5 clashes with Azerbaijani forces, will be operated on for a fourth time. The 26-year-old captain, who was taken to the Central Clinical Military Hospital in Yerevan about a month ago, has actually undergone three operations. “I am already changing for the better. The fourth surgery will be performed in two weeks,” Azat Stepanyan said to us. He says he cannot stay in hospital knowing that his friends are there – on the border. “It is really very difficult. Every day, I talk to them on the phone. I cannot do otherwise,” he said. A verbal ceasefire agreement to halt hostilities in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone was reached by the Armenian and Azerbaijani sides on April 5.
