Today the Government rejected the legislative initiative of the NA Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) faction lawmaker Mikayel Melkumyan, according to which the minimum wage must have been increased. It was planned that starting from July 1, 2016 the minimum monthly wage must have been set AMD 65 000 instead of current AMD 55 000. The minimum amounts of hourly tariff rates for piece work and hourly employees also must have been reviewed. Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Artem Asatryan representing the bill, said, “The increase of minimum wage derives from the main goals of the government’s medium- and long term strategic projects and increase of the minimum wage up to AMD 65 000 is intended during the reporting period.”
