Davit Tonoyan met with NATO Deputy Secretary General

On April 21st, RA First Deputy Minister of Defence Davit Tonoyan visited NATO Headquarters and met with NATO Deputy Secretary General, Ambassador Alexander Vershbow. During the meeting, the First Deputy Defence Minister presented the details of the aggression initiated by Azerbaijan, in the beginning of April, against Nagorno-Karabakh – notably the enemy’s prearranged attacks, as well as evidence against their violations of international humanitarian law. Davit Tonoyan noted that, Nagorno-Karabakh’s right to self-determination cannot be suppressed with military force: “It has been reconfirmed that, the entire Armenian community is mobilizing to protect this right by any means necessary. The people of Nagorno-Karabakh have the right to protect themselves and improve their security environment”. Throughout the meeting, discussions were also held on Armenia-NATO cooperation related matters. Ambassador Vershbow praised the current state of cooperation between Armenia and NATO, and expressed hope in its further development dynamics. On April 22nd, Davit Tonoyan will take part in the consultation over the Armenia-NATO “Planning and Review Process” document.
