Regular elections to local self-governmental bodies underway in 36 communities
Regular elections to local self-governmental bodies are appointed on April 17, 2016 in 36 communities of Aragatsotn, Ararat, Armavir, Gegharqunik, Kotayk, Syunik, Vayots dzor marzes. Out of 36 communities elections only to head of community will be held in 30 communities; elections to community Council of Elders will be held in 3 communities and in 2 communities both elections will be held. The time limit for submission of applications on self-recusal expired on April 7, 2016. By the expiry of the prescribed time limit, 14 citizens out of 74 registered candidates to head of community submitted applications on self-recusal. 3 citizens out of 67 registered candidates to community Council of Elders submitted applications on self-recusal. As a result, 60 candidates to a head of community and 64 candidates to member of the Council of Elders will run in the elections to local self-governmental bodies on April 17, 2016. 113 observers from 5 local NGOs were accredited in the Central Electoral Commission to carry out observation mission during the regular elections to local self-governmental bodies to be held on April 17, 2016.
