U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry is in Moscow discuss the crisis situations in Ukraine and Syria with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at the Kremlin. They are also likely to discuss Tuesday’s attacks in Brussels, which Secretary Kerry called an assault against the Belgian people and against the very heart of Europe. Among other issues, the US Secretary of State is expected to raise the issue of jailed Ukrainian pilot Nadezhda Savchenko, a Ukrainian pilot who was sentenced to 22 years in prison on Tuesday after being found guilty of complicity in killing two Russian journalists. Kerry stressed that the State Department is extremely concerned about her sentence. “22 years in prison… This is unfair decision, considering her health condition,” the State Department official said.
