Dashnaktsutyun backs Postanjyan's candidacy (video)
The National Assembly’s Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs is discussing the three nominations for the vacant position of the Armenian Ombudsman. Artsvik Minasyan from the Armenian Revolutionary Federation – Dashnaktsutyun addressed a question to Zaruhi Postanjyan, one of the three nominees. “First of all let me say that I vote in favor of your candidacy. At the beginning of your speech you used the phrase the so-called Constitution. Are you going to treat the Constitution in the same way after assuming the office of Armenian Ombudsman? “I think as a lawyer you understand what I meant as we came to a point where we did not have the opportunity to make changes in the Law on Ombudsman and, by a decision of the National Assembly, the function was delegated to the NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs. The political majority had an opportunity to make changes but they did not. We are applying the Constitution backed by you and now we are taking an examination and thus violating the application of the Constitution from the very beginning,” Postanjan said.
