Why are petrol prices twice higher in Armenia compared to the RF and Georgia? In reply to the questions by the journalists after the Government sitting the Chairman of the SCPEC Artak Shaboyan said that he couldn’t give any comment about the RF, as the Armenian companies obtain petrol from the Russian companies, “There are documents presented to our committee. I cannot comment on the policy of the RF Government about the prices in their inner market.” Mr. Shaboyan had difficulty in answering at which price “Rosneft” sells petrol in the RA, “I can provide that information, but at the moment I am not ready to introduce as the data differs from month to month. We can provide that information in one-two days.” Mr Shaboyan didn’t rule out that the taxes have their significant influence on the petrol prices, “I have mentioned for many times, that the density of oil in petrol price sold in Armenia makes up 8 percent, it means that it is rather small and the reason is that we obtain from the Russian market. Even in the RF taxes have huge weight in the petrol price, besides, transportation expenses are included, then, there are high taxes on petrol in our country.”
