Khosrov Harutyunyan: Ashotyan will remain one of the most influential figures in the HHK (video)
Republicans do not encounter any problems in the National Assembly in terms of decision-making, Republican lawmaker Khosrov Harutyunyan said on February 10. Speaking about his party’s decision to form a coalition government with the Armenian Revolutionary Federation – Dashnaktsutyun, Mr Harutyunyan said Dashnaktsutyu was the main political force that supported the constitutional changes initiated by Serzh Sargsyan. “These two parties – the Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) and Dashnaktsutyun - are responsible for the consequences of the constitutional changes. Considering this very fact, Serzh Sargsyan offered them to form a coalition,” the HHK lawmaker stressed. He says many view the coalition government as an opportunity for the parties, namely Dashnaktsutyun, to get ‘ministerial portfolios.’ “Government jobs imply great responsibility,” he said. Speaking about the resignation of Armenian Minister of Education and Science, Mr Harutyunyan said he would not like to speak about it. “Armen Ashotyan's resignation cannot affect his political career. He has been and will continue to remain one of the most influential figures in the HHK and one of the most promising young politicians in the country. During his tenure of office, Ashotyan carried out many radical and institutional reforms in the education sector and I would like his successor to continue his work.”
