On February 12 the Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs will elect one candidate for the position of Ombudsman, which will then be presented to the discussion at the NA plenary sitting, later closed, secret voting will be held. The president of the NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs, Republican Hovhannes Sahakyan prefers to speak about the candidate of the Republican Party of Armenia (HHK), Deputy Minister of Justice Arman Tatoyan by considering him a balanced person respected by the most of the lawmakers, “He is included in the discussions of the new Criminal Procedure Code as a specialist and has had discussions with the members of the commission. There is positive attitude toward him. A number of lawmakers respect and rely on Arman Tatoyan.” As for the fact that a number of lawmakers, irrespective of the position of their faction, support the candidacy of “Heritage” lawmaker Zaruhi Postanjyan, Hovhannes Sahakyan says, “A number of the NA male lawmakers personally will uphold the candidacy of Zaruhi Postanjyan with great pleasure, but the political stance is completely different. We are a gallant nation, an Armenian man always respects women, maybe it is also one of the reasons.”
