“Vahan Shirkhanyan is angry; he knows the priest and journalist involved in the case”
Former deputy Defense Minister Vahan Shirkhanyan, who has been in custody since December 19, doesn’t plead himself guilty. His lawyer Tigran Ter-Yesayan once again highlighted this in the interview with “A1+”. “Naturally, Mr Shirkhanyan doesn’t avoid any investigative action and questions. He knows the priest and the journalist involved in the case. He met with them for three times. He says that he is ready to answer all the questions.” To remind, Vahan Shirkhanyan was arrested on December 19, 2015, on suspicion of aiding a criminal gang led by Artur Vardanyan. The lawyer also reminded that though Mr Shirkhanyan has health problems, he hasn’t been allowed to be taken to medical examination. “He has blood clot in one leg, he must immediately undergo x-ray examination. We have serious reasons, his relatives are ready to pay for treatment, but the issue hasn’t been solved yet,” said Mr Ter-Yesayan. At present they are waiting for the decision of the penitentiary institution. The lawyer yesterday met with Mr Shirkhanyan, “He isn’t despondent, he is angry about the whole story,” he highlighted.
