The New Armenia Public Salvation Front suggests the other opposition forces to organize a joint rally at Liberty Square on March 1 to commemorate the 8th anniversary of the deadly post-election clashes in Yerevan. On that day, they will present their demands to the international organizations. “We shall ask them to impose sanctions on the acting regime, recognize the existence of political prisoners, demand their released and reduction in police forces, ” said Andrias Ghukasyan, a member of the New Armenia opposition group. Mr Ghukasyan added that they have initiated meetings with other opposition forces, including the Armenian National Congress (HAK) and Civil Contract. “Opposition forces are always competing with each other, but I think they can unite over this issue,” he stressed. “It is important that people attend the joint nationwide rally,” added Varuzhan Avetisyan, another member of the opposition movement. “All possible developments depend on the number and activity of people. In all cases, people draft the final agenda,” he said.
