NKR Defense Ministry: Armenian soldier killed in latest ceasefire violation
An Armenian soldier was reportedly killed in an overnight ceasefire violation by Azerbaijani troops. The Defense Ministry of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic says 20-year-old Simon Chavrshyan was fatally wounded at 3.55 a.m. while on duty in a military unit stationed in the southern direction of the Line of Contact with Azerbaijan. An investigation is underway to clarify to details of the incident. “The NKR Defense Ministry shares the grief of the loss and extends condolences to the family, relatives and fellow servicemen of the soldier,” the report says. At the same time, the Ministry says on February 4 and 5, tensions increased on the Line of Control separating Armenian and Azerbaijani troops, with Azerbaijan firing at least 1500 rounds at Armenian military positions.
