A bill penalizing the denial of the Armenian Genocide has been introduced in the Russian State Duma. It was offered by “Spravedlivaya Rosia” (A Just Russia) party. “It is obvious that they are not doing it for the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide or out of Armenia’s security issues. They are doing it in connection with the Russian helicopter in order to reply to Turkey or take revenge on Turkey,” political expert Stepan Safaryan told “A1+”. Several hours after downing the Russian aircraft Vladimir Zhirinovsky, President of Liberal Democratic Party of Russia, announced that Russia must solve its problems with the help of some other nation. According to the words of political expert Alexander Iskandaryan, Vladimir Zhirinovsky is well known for his exotic statements in Russia. “With such bright and very often emotional informational statements he has been in the political field for 20 years. It has no serious connection with Russia’s real politics,” thinks Mr. Iskandaryan. Stepan Safaryan doesn’t share this viewpoint. He is sure that on appropriate occasions Russia manipulates the most important Armenian issues in order to regulate the problems with the neighbors. To what extent can the Russian-Turkish diplomatic war be dangerous for Armenia taking into account that two days ago official Ankara announced return of territories to Azerbaijan at any cost? Stepan Safaryan says: “If the Russian revenge is really consistent, of course, Turkey will also give an answer and will give an answer not in the form of open confrontation, but in the mediated frames. In that case, yes, it will need Azerbaijan as a tool, and the Karabakh issue will serve as a platform, as the destabilization of the situation will be directed not only against the interests of Armenia but also Russia.” Details on video
