According to the data presented by the authorities, there are 2.6 million people in Armenia, who have the right to vote, and more than 900.000 people are under 18. “Hayazn” party representative Armen Mkrtchyan informed the residents of Voskevan village of Tavush marz about it within the framework of “Yes and No” reality show. “If we add 900.000 to 2.6 million we get 3.5 million people. Do you think that Armenia has population of 3.5 million or has Armenia had population of 3.5 million after the Soviet years? It is one of the primary reasons not to trust the authorities, because if a process is organized for the sake of people, it cannot begin with fraud,” he highlighted. Mr. Mkrtchyan also noted that if the draft Constitution is adopted, the nationwide election will be decreased by 50 percent. “If we took part in two nationwide elections- presidential and parliamentary, now we will take part only in parliamentary elections. The authorities will save up money by this, as we understand how much the authorities spend on the elections. It means that we must take into account how much is spent on headquarters and staff of the headquarters.” The representative of “Hayazn” party assured the residents that they shouldn’t hope for the regime change as a result of this Constitution, it is simply a necessity. “The system formed during these years, which oppressed the people, must burst one day. Even the process of price increase of a pen is enough for bursting.” Mr. Mkrtchyan urged the residents of Voskevan not to forget that the Constitutional referendum is a serious election. “If we give this governing team a chance to be in power 10 more years, then do not complain that your pensions aren’t given, the dead take part in the elections etc,” summed up Mr. Mkrtchyan.
