Reason for murder of the Head of Legal Department of the bank: Investigative
Through investigation conducted in the framework of the criminal case investigated in the Investigative Division of Kentron and Norq-Marash administrative districts of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee a number of circumstances, the motive of murder of the Head of Legal Department of one of the Armenian banks, 32 year-old H. Atanyan were found, the person having committed the apparent crime was identified. H. Atanyan’s murder was committed on the evening of November 24 in Yerevan. According to preliminary investigation data a shot was fired from a hunting gun towards his back at the house 14, Vardanants Street. As a result, H. Atanyan died at the site of the injuries he had sustained, the person having committed the apparent crime put the gun into the trunk of a taxi, got into it and drove away. During forensic medical examination 6 bullets were removed from the body. In the result of investigatory and procedural actions conducted operatively in the framework of the criminal case initiated in the Investigative Division of Kentron and Norq-Marash administrative districts, the driver of the mentioned taxi was identified; he is a 54 year-old resident of Yerevan M. Poghosyan and at the moment of murder he was by his car “VAZ-2107”. He was the customer of the bank where H. Atanyan worked. According to initial data, the 54 year-old man had a property dispute with the bank and related to it he had met the Head of Legal Department of the bank for several times. The last meeting took place in the bank on the day of the incident and some hours after it the murder was committed. On November 25 M. Poghosyan was arrested on suspicion of H. Atanyan’s murder and was interrogated. The gun which was the tool of the crime was confiscated. The videos captured by the cameras inserted at the scene were received in the order defined by law and inspected. Preliminary investigation is ongoing. Necessary investigatory actions are conducted to provide the comprehensive, objective and complete investigation if the case.
