Opinion: Karabakh and Armenia provide security in the region
With the downing of a Russian jet Turkey has shown the world that it sponsors terrorist groups, Chairman of the National Security Party said on November 25. In this context, Garnik Isagulyan stressed the role of Saudi Arabia and Qatar and added that the recent terrorist attacks by the Islamic state had ‘a boomerang effect.’ “Life has shown that a chaotic situation arose in countries where the West tried to spread democratic values - Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya and Syria, and terrorist acts took place in the countries that tried to spread democratic values,” he said. Speaking about security in Nagorno Karabakh and Armenia, Mr Isagulyan said, “First of all let me say that Karabakh and Armenia provide security in the region. Our authorities are to pay serious attention to the issue of defense and our citizens are advised to immediately report to the relevant authorities if they notice anything unusual. Judging by the recent developments, I can say that the closed borders with Turkey and Azerbaijan were even beneficial to us at this moment.”
