Indian students in Yerevan are celebrating today Diwali (or Deepavali, the "festival of lights"), one of the largest and brightest festivals in India. In some regions of the country it marks the beginning of the Hindu New Year. The festival spiritually signifies the victory of good over evil and is usually celebrated with fireworks and lit candles. The Indians gathered outside a Yerevan were marking the festival with songs, games and dances. Diwali is a festival of light, which is celebrated all over India. It brings happiness and joy. People decorate their homes, sing and dance and play different games, wear special clothes,” Indian students Manik and Suba told A1+. Traditionally, people eat sweets and snacks at Diwali. Mostly, so much sweets and snacks are made during Diwali that it is difficult to eat everything, so mostly people keep on passing the sweet boxes further.
