Prosperous Armenia Party (the BHK) deputy, member of the NA Ad-hoc Committee on Ethics Vahan Babayan may become a President of the NA Ad-hoc Committee on Ethics. “Our faction proposed my candidacy, as I have been working in this committee since 2012. If a change occurs according to the regulations of the NA and if I am in a committee, of course, it isn’t excluded that I will head the Ad-hoc Committee on Ethics,” said the MP in the interview with “A1+”. The activities of the NA 5th convocation 8th session have started for already a month, but the staff and the President of the NA Ad-hoc Committee on Ethics are not known until today. According to the NA regulations the staff and the President of the committee must be changed by rotation, which has not happened yet. The activities of the committee have become passive, since the former president of the committee, the HHK MP Arpine Hovhannisyan became the Minister of Justice. By the way, there has been an ongoing issue in the proceedings of the committee, which has remained unfinished. It is about the application of Helsinki Citizens' Assembly Vanadzor Office on the threatening statements by the HHK MP Arakel Movsisyan. Vahan Babayan noted that at that moment he wasn’t authorized to speak about the ongoing cases on the behalf of the committee, “If something becomes clear, I will certainly inform the news outlets. Yes, that case is under our examination.” The changes in the Ad-hoc Committee on Ethics are approved by the NA President.
