Events dedicated to the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide also have been included in the program of “Erebuni-Yerevan 2797” celebrations. Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan together with the members of the official delegations took part in the opening ceremony of “Chronicle of stone monuments” open-air exhibition of cuneiform inscriptions in the park located between Nalbandyan and Hanrapetutyan streets. Copies of a number of cuneiform inscriptions found in the Western Armenia, Tushpa (Van), Tigranakert and other cities, have been presented to the public with their interpretation and translation. In his speech addressed to the attendees Yerevan Deputy Mayor Aram Sukiasyan congratulated the citizens and guests of the capital city on the occasion of Yerevan Day and noted that this open-air exhibition also has educational significance. “The cuneiform inscriptions away from our care and control in the western Armenia are presented within the frames of this exceptional open-air exhibition. They are a vivid fact about the reality that alas most of them aren’t maintained in Turkey. Copies of cuneiform inscriptions of our former capital cities telling about their birth, struggle, victories and achievements are also exhibited. In particular, cuneiforms of Alashkert, Mush, Van-Tushpa are presented to the public for the first time, so this exhibition will also have an educational importance about the history of Armenians, the source of their culture,” noted Aram Sukiasyan.
