Annually 2500 people are operated on in Armenian neurosurgical clinics (video)
The 9th International Black Sea Neurosurgical conference kicked off in Yerevan. Specialists from different parts of the world are taking part in the conference. According to the words of Deputy Minister of Healthcare Tigran Sahakyan, though there are 8 large neurosurgical clinics in Armenia, and annually 2500 people are operated on, there is still much to do in this sphere. “The main issues are connected with medical equipment, which are rather expensive and cannot be obtained with today’s budget. But the government is trying to increase the expenses of the healthcare sphere so that we can solve the issue of new technologies in Armenia.” According to the Deputy Minister, there are private clinics in our country, which are trying to fill the number of clinics by themselves. “The organization of such conferences is also directed to the development of neurosurgery. The specialists, who have arrived from the countries of Black Sea region, develop their own skills with the exchange of experience. During the recent years the Ministry of Healthcare has also turned its attention to the development of this service by including the international experience, skills of international experts.”
