Publicist: Do you agree with Kocharyan? (video)
The constitutional amendments will put Armenia on the verge of collapse, publicist Karine Hakobyan told media representatives on October 7. “Does it mean that you agree with [Robert] Kocharyan?” In reply to a journalist’s question, Mr Hakobyan said, “Kocharyan repeated what we said long ago.” In his recent interview with 2nd.am, Robert Kocahryan criticized the constitutional amendments. Republican MP Sukias Avetisyan considers Kocharyan’s criticism natural, at the same time assuring everyone that package will not lead to the creation of a vicious system. “He [Kocharyan] says the bill contains fundamental risks that the country will lead to a de facto one party system which is excluded,” the Republican MP said. His words did not convince Karine Hakobyan who wonders who people should be deprived of their right to elect a president. We are not depriving people of that right, we are saying them, “Elect lawmakers and the majority that you want. The majority will elect a president and prime minister.” That is why we warn people to make a right decision and elect the best majority,” Mr Avetisyan said.
