The Armenian National Congress (the HAK) deputy Stepan Demirchyan is sure that at present there is no public demand for the constitutional reforms. “It will intensify the situation, when our country, we can say, is at war situation. It would be right if the authorities suspended or least postponed the referendum in this situation.” The deputy gives only one explanation to the hastiness of the authorities, “It shows how much the regime stresses the importance of this process for prolongation of its government. But Armenia needs real changes,” highlighted Mr. Demirchyan. The HAK deputy also recalled 2005. “What has been changed in our country after the constitution adopted during that time through shameful fraud? The authorities violating the Constitution must be removed instead of changing the Constitution.”
