Demonstrators, police officers clash near National Assembly; one person detained (video)

A group of citizens and members of the “You Won’t pass It” initiative are trying to stick a poster of the “NO” front, which is campaigning against the draft constitutional amendments, on the gate of National Assembly, but the police do not allow them to do it. This led to teary confrontation demonstrators and police officers who were constantly tearing down the poster. Valeri Osipyan, Deputy Chief of Yerevan Police, announced that all those who would not obey their orders would be detained and urged journalists and cameramen to open the corridor. Several participants of the action felt unwell because they were jostled against the others in the crowd. The ‘fight’ over the poster is still continuing. Opposition lawmakers Levon Zurabyan and Aram Manukyan have come out to talk to the demonstrators who demand Serzh Sargsyan’s resignation. In the meantime, more police officers are arriving at Baghramyan Avenue. They are forming a human wall near the NA gates. One of the demonstrators has been detained for elbowing a policeman and hitting him with his foot.
