David Hovhannisyan, one of the members of the “You Won’t Pass It” pressure group, said during the rally organized by the initiative that about 30 organisations had joined the NO camp which is struggling against the controversial constitutional reform. “But you, the citizens of Armenia, are the key participants of the struggle. This is a totalitarian government which is doomed to failure. Now their cynicism has reached the point where they decided to change the constitution. Their next step will be proclaiming Serzh Sargsyan ‘eternal father of the nation’ and bestowing the title of ‘eternal ruler’ upon him. Does anyone want Serzh Sargsyan to become ‘eternal father of the nation?” he asked. “No,” the ralliers vociferated unanimously The activists said they need to move forward and remove the " malignant tumor.” “On October 5, the National Assembly will put the draft constitution to a vote. It will be a kind of a test for Armenian lawmakers who were sworn when taking their parliamentary mandates. On that day, we shall see how many of them stay faithful to their oath and who are traitors,” said Arshak Masukhanyan, a coordinator of the pressure group. The activists also informed the ralliers that the initiative had requested to the Municipality to sanction their October 5 rally at Liberty Square which will be followed by a march to Baghramyan street.
