160 million drams allocated for Erebuni-Yerevan 2797 celebrations (video)
The Yerevan Municipality has not cancelled the official celebration of “Erebuni-Yerevan,” Deputy Mayor Aram Sukiasyan said on Sept. 30. “This year, 130 million drams have been allocated [from the state budget] for the celebration. The Municipality has considered the petition [started by a group of citizens] of cancelling the event but as the border villages are outside Yerevan, the Municipality does not have the authority to allocate the money to these villages,” the municipality official said. Aram Sukiasyan says we should celebrate the holiday as Yerevan is the capital of all Armenians. “We cannot pour water over the mill a foreign country. Let us remember that we have a strong army,” he said. Another 30 million drams have allocated for the “Erebuni-Yerevan 2797” celebrations was given by private companies. However, the deputy mayor did not divulge their names.
