Karine Achemyan: Presidential system of government is advantageous to Republicans most of all (video)
“Maintaining the presidential system of government in Armenia is the most advantageous to the Republican Party of Armenia (the HHK), in that way it can easily remain in power,- announces the HHK NA deputy Karine Achemyan and adds,- But we want a change so that other forces can become more involved in the government system.” Mrs. Achemyan thinks that the parliamentary system of government will be easier for everybody, “Man-parties will vanish, there will be enlargement of parties and several parties will govern the country like in many large countries.” The HHK deputy doesn’t reject that the package of the constitutional amendments includes risks in it, “Any change is painful, but we must form a new political culture. The changes will transform not only the system, but also the conscious positions, they will invest a new political culture.” According to the assessment of Karine Achemyan, the discussions over the package of the constitutional amendments at the NA were unprecedented and active, “Absolutely all the political forces participated in the discussions. The HHK did everything for broad consolidation and transparency.” She assured that the HHK has no secret intention connected with the constitutional amendments, “The powers of the opposition increase in the improved system and the chance of appearing at the NA for different political forces also increases.”
