Islamic State battles in Damascus streets, situation dangerous for local Armenians
Islamic State rebels have advanced to the heart of Damascus, creating a most dangerous situation for Syria's Christian population. Militants can kill all Christians there, including Armenians. “At present, we have no information about the situation of Armenians in Damascus. We expect to receive information about local Armenians within an hour,” Armenian Foreign Ministry spokesman Tigran Balayan told A1+. At the same time, he dismisses the reports that rebels have captured Armenian- populated districts of Damascus.
