Scores of activists of the newly-formed “Rise, Armenia” civil initiative today continued actions of “civil disobedience” at Liberty Square. Some of them remained seated on the pavement while others stood behind the police cordon. Deputy Chief of Yerevan Police Valery Osipyan went up to the activists to talk to them, again warning that the action was unlawful. “I welcome what you are doing now. You are doing the right thing because the rise in electricity prices is not a good thing. But you should hold the action in conformity with the law,” he said. After the activists said that the police frequently taken disproportionate actions, Mr Osipyan said, “I wonder why you do not want to admit, although some people have already admitted, that police officers are one of you.”
