A Yerevan Court today ruled to apply two-month detention as a precautionary measure for Tigran Khachatryan, the son of notorious Syunik Governor Syurik Khachatryan. Tigran was taken to the Court of General Jurisdiction of Yerevan’s Arabkir and Kanaker-Zeytun districts this morning. He was detained two days ago in connection with the May 2 incident in the southeastern town of Goris. He was suspected of inflicting grave bodily harm on brothers Harut and Mushegh Zakaryan outside Goris, at a place known as Sdghi Gyol, on May 2. Tigran Khachatryan is ‘just a victim,’ said his lawyer Armen Melkonyan. He states that Tigran was at the scene on May 2 but he did not injure anyone. “We have evidence at hand that these people thanked Tigran Khachatryan for his human behaviour. Tigran was at the scene but he tried to divide the parties,” he said.
