Criminal case instituted against Kristine Khanumian discontinued
According to the decision of the Prosecutor of Prosecutor’s Office of Kentron and Nork-Marash administrative districts, the criminal case instituted against Director of “Start-Media” LLC, editor of Ilur.am news portal Kristine Khanumian under Article 353, paragraph 2 of the RA Criminal Code (deliberate failure to comply with a court order) has been discontinued. At the same time taking into account the fact that on July 16, 2015 OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media Dunja Mijatović expressed concern regarding reports that Armenia’s Special Investigative Service launched a criminal case against editor of Ilur.am news portal Kristine Khanumian, the RA Prosecutor General Gevorg Kostanyan sent a letter to Mrs. Mijatović. All the circumstances of the instituted criminal case and all the standards of the international and domestic legislation, which were taken into account when instituting the case, have been explained in the letter in detail.
