Application of funded pensions examined
The Constitutional Court today by written procedure during 10-15 minutes examined the application signed by the NA 33 lawmakers. It related to the constitutionality of some articles of the law on “Funded pensions”. Representatives of “I am against” (Dem.am) initiative, Dashnaktsutyun lawmaker Artsvik Minasyan, BHK faction member Arayik Aghababyan, Elinar Vardanyan, Hayk Khachatryan, independent lawmaker Edmon Marukyan attended the meeting at the CC. The respondent was Head of the NA Legal Department Hayk Sargsyan. Though it was a written procedure, CC member Kim Balayan had questions addressed to him, in reply to which Hayk Sargsyan answered that he wasn’t ready to answer his questions. His reply surprised Kim Balayan and he responded, “Maybe first you should hear my question and then answer, especially when my question is within the framework of the justifications you have presented.” Kim Balayan’s question related to the adoption of the amendments in the law on “Funded pensions” at the NA extraordinary session, “Mr. Sargsyan, can you present the legal basis, by which the NA voted and adopted the amendments in the law at the extraordinary session without discussing it at the standing committees or public hearings?” Head of the NA Legal Department answered, “I cannon answer that question.” The CC went to the consultancy room. The decision will be released during the day.
