The nine activists taken to police stations from Baghramyan Avenue about an hour ago are in the police department of Kentron district of Yerevan. Activists Argishti Kiviryan and Vaghinak Kiviryan, a member of the No to Plunder initiative that spearheaded street protests against the electricity price hike before the June 23 crackdown on protersters, are among the detainees. Armenian lawmaker Nikol Pashinyan is also at the police department. Talking to journalists gathered there, the MP said the detainees will be set free within three hours and no charges will be brought against them. They were probably detained for not complying with police requirements, Pashinyan said. Two of the activists were taken to the police by ambulance because they felt unwell during the detention.
