“If the European Games were held not in Azerbaijan but in another country, we would win more medals. But in Baku it was impossible, as there were a lot of tension and psychological pressure in Baku,” today at the newly opened “Andradardz” (Reflection) press club said Head Coach of Armenia’s national freestyle wrestling team Arayik Baghdatyan. He also noted that the referees often made mistakes connected with our wrestlers, “One minute after the match, referees warned our wrestlers. Those one-two points affected the final result.” Assessing the matches of the team headed by him, Arayik Baghdatyan noted that to some extent his expectations were justified by heavyweight wrestler Levan Berianidze, “He defeated five-time world champion Gatsalov, but in the fight for the third prize he was defeated by his compatriot- a Georgian wrestler. Our other 5 wrestlers weren’t psychologically ready for this tournament. But, as I have already mentioned, the European Games were preparatory stage before the world championship, so I don’t consider this result to be a serious failure.” After a short rest Armenian national freestyle wrestling team will start getting ready for the World Championship to be held in September in the USA, Las Vegas. Before the launch of the competition our team will hold trainings in Tsaghkadzor, Russia, Georgia and the USA. The final staff of the team will be known in the middle of August.
