Communism meant good life: Families stayed together (video)
The Armenian Communist Party (HHK) is restoring its committees in marzes. The party’s headquarters in Stepanavan, Spitak, Abovyan and Vardenis are already reopened, says the HHK First Secretary. “People ask us where we have been over these years. Communists have been ruling for 70 years and everything was fine during these years: the couples were together, mothers were with their children,” Tachat Sargsyan told A1+. However, he says the party cannot open headquarters in all marzes as they do not have funds. “We lack finances and we do not a faction in the National Assembly,” Mr Sargsyan said. The party having at least 20000 members does not even have its own area. “We rented an area in this building while enormous buildings were constructed with the financial assistance of the party during the Soviet years.” Today the party survives thanks to contributions made by its members. But Communists are hopeful that one day they will come back to power.
