Hovhannes Davtyan fails to win a medal in Baku
Armenian judo wrestlers failed to win a medal on the first day of European Judo Championship in Baku. Today our two athletes started their campaign. Our only participant of women’s championship Zhanna Stankevich lost to British Kelly Edwards in the first round of 52 kg weight category tournament and left the struggle. Our experienced judo wrestler, 60 kg weight category Hovhannes Davtyan defeated Matjaz Trbovc from Slovenia and entered the quarter-final. Here just for being warned he lost to Spanish athlete Francisco Garrigos. Alas, in the first fight for the third prize Hovhannes Davtyan lost to Switzerland's Ludovic Chammartin and remained without a medal. The last participant from Armenia, 73 kg weight category Davit Nikoghosyan tomorrow will face Sagi Muki from Israel.
