Former mayor's son wins in Sunday elections in Urasar community

The son of former village head in Armenia’s Urasar community [Lori province] has reportedly swept to victory in a snap election on Sunday. Artak Kirakosyan, an operator at Sagamar CJSC, has received 97 votes while his contender Samvel Ghandilyan  - 95 votes. A total of 197 people out of the 283 eligible voters went to the polls in Sunday to elect a new village headman. Four ballots were recognized invalid. The powers of the former head of the community, Surik Kirakosyan, were suspended after the latter’s death. The Central Election Commission will receive 1,002,600 drams for the elections and the police will receive 1,115.4 drams.
