About 25.000 school-leavers will be taking entrance exams in less than two weeks to continue their studies in Armenian universities. They will have to pass admission tests checking their knowledge of the past 12 years. However, the results of A1+’s survey show that neither school-leavers nor their parents are confident of the knowledge they have received during school years. In reply to our question whether they can enter a university without a tutor’s help, many said ‘we can if they pay money.’ Sevan, 23, has graduated from Yerevan State University (International Relations Department). He says he could not have entered the university if he had not studied privately. Sevan says students face a major problem after graduation. “Even those who receive a Diploma with Honours cannot find a job. They remain in a vacuum if they do not have an acquaintance to assist them in finding a job. ” The traditional "Last Bell" will be rung in Armenian schools on May 22 announcing the start of a new adult life for numerous school-leavers.
